

John was born on October 27, 1948 in Colorado to Virginia and Robert Jewett. He spend much of his childhood in Spokane, Washington, where he graduated from Shadle High School in 1967. Shortly after, John proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War as a FN Refrigeration Engineer. He received numerous commendations and was honorably discharged in 1968.
After completing his military service, John returned to Washington and began building a life rooted in family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He raised his children, Vanessa, John Jr, and Katie in Yakima, He loved camping and jeeping and spending time at “the cabin,” where he could often be found playing cards, fishing, and enjoying good whiskey with lifelong friends.
John worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. He spent many years in small appliance repair and long haul trucking and ultimately built a successful career as head of refrigeration at Eakin fruit company for over three decades. John took great pride in caring for his home and farm, often spending his free time improving and maintaining the property he loved.
Upon retirement John moved, with his wife Marti, to Port Charlotte, Florida, where they enjoyed going to the beach and trying new restaurants.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His sharp wit, quiet strength, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Zaring and Robert Jewett; stepfather, Tom Zaring; and brother, Cliff Jewett. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marti Paccia-Jewett; his children, Vanessa Deifel (Jewett), John Jewett Jr. and Katie Paccia-Jewett; his sister, Cindy Owens; brother, Don Jewett; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
John’s family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared and the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind.
