Joseph Channing Knotts, Sr., 82, formally of Cincinnati, OH died at his residence in Port Charlotte, Florida on January 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 27, 1933 in Minora, WV, son of Inez and Channing Knotts. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served on the Aircraft Carrier Leyte (CV-32) and the Hornet (CV-12), during the Korean War. He joined the Cincinnati Fire Department in 1957 and retired as district Chief in 1988.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; children, Diane Lewis of Hammersville, Ohio, Joseph Knotts Jr., of Fairfield, Ohio, Michelle Funk of Columbus, Ohio and Sheila Seekford of Northport, FL; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Teresa Hundimer of Bellevue, KY in 2013.
