

Mr. Koscinski served in the U.S. Army 1st Armor in Fort Knox Kentucky from 1956 to 1964 where he was a Lead Tank Crewman. Following his military service, he had a long and successful career with the Cleveland, Ohio Board of Education. He retired after 33 years of service. He then went on to work for NASA in Cleveland, Ohio. Afterwards, Mr. Koscinski moved to Florida with his wife in 1991.
He became an active member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge #2606 in 1991 and was named "Elk of the Year" in 1995 and 1996. He held the office of Chaplain for two years and organized the Americanism Parade in Punta Gorda, FL for six years. This parade was held each February and included many organizations, including local schools, businesses and charities. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his retirement years, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating. He also liked to travel with his wife and spent time making special wood working projects for his family and friends.
There was nothing more important to him than the love for his family which he took great care of. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley A. Koscinski, son Joseph T. (Susan) Koscinski Jr., son Timothy M. (LeeAnn) Koscinski , daughter Saundra A. (David) Petty, sister-in-law Pauline Koscinski, niece Lisa (Lenny) McClellan, niece Pamala Maurna, brother-in-law Butch (Bonnie) Jeskey and their daughter Kimmy Jo. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Koscinski, sister Delores Linsmaier and her husband Earl.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Elks Lodge will provide funeral rites at 3:30pm during the visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W Charlotte Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950, with Father Jerry Kaywell officiating. A Graveside Service with military honors will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:30 am.
