Kathleen Marie Hancock, 68, passed away at her residence on December 17, 2008. She was born June 16, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Harold F. and Marie Ladendorf Jablenski, Sr.
She moved to the Englewood area in 1972 from North Carolina. She was the first female commercial fisherman captain in the Gulf of Mexico. She also was a clerk for Publix in Englewood and worked for Venice Hospital.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and past madam president of the ladies auxiliary of the Eagles both of Englewood.
She is survived by her children Anthony L. Michele Morley of Venice, Brian K. Laureen Morley of Mystic, Connecticut, Marion E. Degnan of Port Charlotte and Diana L. Marcelino Sanches of Englewood; her brother, Harold F. Jablenski, Jr. of Grove City, Florida; her sister, Janis Jablenski of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.
Kathy will also be dearly missed by her closest friends; Jo Ann "Taco- Jo" Chase, Sandra McCracken, Linda Weichmann and her beloved dog Sport.
