Linda was an acting student of mine at Carol City just before I moved on to teach at the University. I cast her as Rosie opposite Vann Helms in the musical "Bye Bye Birdie" over other seasoned performers because I wanted someone gracious, vibrant, and utterly wholesome to exude those qualities far beyond the trendy hype of the rock star lead.Though I haven't seen her since, I was fortunate to have written to her lately because it seems she still had reservations about taking the part away from one of the high school leading ladies. I assured her that no one else could have radiated and brought Rosie to life for all those hundreds of parents, students, faculty, visitors and friends.There were plans to meet again in the Blue Ridge. All I can do now is remember how glowing and happy she was at the cast party her mom gave in honor of her glorious Rosie.              Mr. Shelly Frome, 2/27/2017      

Linda was a very loyal and devoted life long friend. We first met at 11 years old at Westview Jr. High School in Miami.  We became friends very quickly, and seemed to attract like people. We attended dances and movies, went to the beach and picnic's and occasionally i would attend her church service if I wasn't attending my church. Linda's Mom was very supportive of Linda and her friends, which made her home a very welcome place. I always enjoyed spending time at her home. The Jr. High and High School years we spent together were storybook years. Linda always had wonderful Birthday Parties, Christmas Parties, and graduation parties. Our friendship continued through college years where she attend FSU. Even though we ending up living on opposite coasts we always kept in touch and maintained a strong friendship. I treasure the wonderful memories and special times we shared throughout our many years. I know she is at peace, which is a comfort as I mourn Linda's passing.. 

I was Linda's assistant and friend when she worked in the Fredericksburg School system. We have remained good friends ever since then. She had a gift with people of all kinds, she never met a stranger. She helped so many people during her life time. She was the most selfless person I have ever known. We feel blessed that we stopped to see her last September and have great memories of our visit with her. She loved her family and Frank more than anything else. Linda and I graduated from Miami Carol City High in 1966, where we had starred together in Shelly Frome's production of the musical, Bye Bye Birdie. She played Rosie, the Chita Rivera role, and I played Albert, the Dick Van Dyke part. In the show, I sang a song called "Rosie" to her, and for the next fifty years, I took every opportunity to sing it to her again. Before Linda went in for surgery, she called me in North Carolina and identified herself as Rosie, not Linda. We had a special relationship. When The Beatles emerged in 1963, Linda fell in love with the moppy haired boys, especially Paul. Her room was plastered with photos of the Fab Four. I mastered Paul's Liverpool accent, and would walk up behind Linda, speaking to her as though I was Paul, and she would melt. We sure had a lot of fun at Carol City. We both chose Florida State after high school, and our first airplane flight came when we flew to Tallahassee together. The next four years would shape the rest of our lives.
Linda was a remarkable, loving, caring, talented person, and she has left us way too soon. But she has also left us with so many great memories that will live on inside us every day. I miss her terribly.

     I was blessed to know Linda.  She was more than an inspiration to me.  She was one of my dearest friends.  When I first met Linda, she was a dedicated teacher who had a special way of making every student feel loved, and I am so glad that my own daughter, Emily, was in her class so many years ago when we first met.  As our friendship grew, I found that her talents and accomplishments were not limited to the education field.  LInda was also a gifted homemaker and kept family a priority as demonstrated by her honorable care for her aging mother and her faithful love for her nephew Jason, and nieces, Crystal and Elizabeth.  She impressed me with her endless domestic abilities and unselfish lifestyle.  She had an exceptional gift for hospitality and was always a cheerful friend to others.  Linda was a true servant.  Time and time again, she gave of herself and her resources to help others.  I'm deeply saddened by her passing and miss her desperately.  Yet, I am comforted in knowing that Linda's faith in God was strong, and she had a personal relationship with him that she nurtured daily.  She counted her blessings more times than not. The Lord filled her with an inner strength for daily living and equipped her for facing life's challenges.  It is with that same kind of faith that I believe Linda is now truly home with our Lord and Savior.

Linda was the only other hat wearer at Grace UMC on Sundays.  I will miss her.  The long list of her  service to others did not  include leading a group of retired teachers , and of course cannot tell of all the individuals she helped.  What a loss to so many!      

We are so sorry to hear of Linda's passing. She was our daughter's second grade teacher at Venice elementary school in 2007-2008. Linda always took the time to speak to our extremely shy daughter and was so excited when Rhiannon actually spoke to her without prompting. You blessed many, my dear sister in Christ.  Jesus' light shown in your
daily walk with our Lord.   Through trials and temptations you knew 
to take refuge in Him.  The Word of God was always your anchor within.
You knew time on this earthly home would be short, compared to our
heavenly home for all eternity.

Many Fruits of the Spirit were gifted to you, Linda.  Your life exemplified:
kindness, patience, a teaching spirit, and pure hospitality.  You were a humble
servant whether at work, volunteering,  or with your family and friends.  In
many different ways,  you were willing to carry out the Great Commission of
your Lord by sharing the Gospel of Salvation with all who would listen.

Your relations with others demonstrated God's precious Agape love dwelling
in the human heart.  Although you were at work in the world,  you resisted being conformed to this world. Rather you were transformed by His Word and sacrificial love, day by day.

Through your deepening relationship with Jesus, you were given that special
inner peace by His precious Holy Spirit.  This peace, which passes all understanding, carried you through and beyond all the storms of life which you faced.  Now in your heavenly home, you are finally completely beyond all tears,  all pain,  and all evil.  Your eternal home is before you, with no end to your joy in heaven's treasures.

So today, Lord, I pray for all who mourn the passing of Linda.  I give thanks
for your sustaining strength for us in these, our days of sorrow.  Father, help
us trust in you, even when we can't understand why these things happen.  Help
us remember that your ways and your thoughts are higher than ours, just
as the heavens are higher than this earth.

We praise you now for your everlasting love which calls to all with the opportunity
for Salvation...by Grace alone...Through faith alone...In Christ Jesus alone.

This past April many of Linda's sorority sisters gathered in Tallahassee to celebrate having been friends for 50 years.  Some of knew that Linda was not feeling too well but she was not about to let many know nor was she going to let it stop her from being with everyone.  She & Myra were part of the committee that made the final banquet such a success.  Those memories are even sweeter now.

We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Linda's family. Linda was loving, kind, generous and patient. She was our son's teacher for two years at Fruitville Elementary and we became friends. She was an excellent teacher and we appreciated her concern for our son. We will always remember her wonderful smile and devotion to her students.


I will miss Linda.  She hosted terrific luncheons for the retired teachers in the Venice area.  

Your wonderful smile, caring heart, and spirit of fun and mischief  will be missed.  I am saddened by your passing and offer sincere condolences to  your family and loved ones.  Rest in peace sweet servant of our Lord.

So sorry for your loss. I met Linda first  when she was at Pine View and was fortunate to know how better working with her at Fruitville Elementary.  She was such a kind, smart, and selfless woman. She was usually involved in some sort of community outreach like collecting toys or food for those in need. I know she will be missed but remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Linda was a beloved friend and sorority sister, Linda was defined by love.  She gave love unconditionally to family and friends.  She was the most selfless person I've ever known. Her teaching career was motivated by love.  Many of her students had a better start in life because of her. Her faith was the driving force in her life. I had the pleasure of working with Linda when she taught at Pine View. What I remember most about her was her smile, kindness, and compassion for all. Linda will remain in our hearts forever.


I was so very sorry to read of Linda's passing. I worked with her at Venice Elementary School, and she was such a warm, kind teacher and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and my wish is she is at peace.
