

Linda Elizabeth Trigg, 68, of Venice Florida, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was born in Chicago on June 21, 1948 and raised in Dade County, Florida. She was a proud graduate of the Florida State University and a sister Rho Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma. Linda was an educator for 40 years teaching in Dade County, Florida, Fredericksburg Va, and Sarasota County, Florida and retiring in 2010 from Sarasota County. She received Teacher of the Year Awards 1977, 1982, 1988, 1998, 2007; Good Housekeeping Teacher of the Year Nominee, VA 1988; Exceptional Children Foundation Award 1987; American Legion 159 Citizen Award Sarasota, FL 1995; Woman of Impact Sarasota County Award Sarasota FL 1995; Outstanding Service Award - Disabled Veteran's 1995; Award of Merit/Outstanding Contributions to Veterans - American Legion 1995
American Legion Citizen's Award - Venice, FL 2006; Outstanding Leadership Intern Program - Venice H.S. 2008; Special Congressional Recognition by FL Congressional Rep. Vern Buchanan 2009 with American flag flown over Capital Bldg; Citizen Recognition for recognition of Veteran's Venice, FL 2009 City Hall; the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center Award 2009 and Citizen of Year Award - American Legion 2010. Her retirement activities included; Vacation Bible School, Docent Venice Audubon Society, Docent for Historic Spanish Point; St. Francis Animal Rescue-store decorator, Young Women's Mentorship Program of Venice Church activities and greeter, and tutoring elementary students.
She is survived by her beloved nephew Jason and his family and her beloved nieces, Crystal and her family and Elizabeth and her family, and her loving companion Frank Pierson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday February 24, 2017 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 400 E Fields Ave, Venice, FL 34285. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood.
