Mary was born September 22, 1926 at home in Niagara Falls New York to John and Martha Sierra. She enjoyed a childhood with brother John Jr. (decd), brother Anthony (decd), as well as her sister Elizabeth Jane Gualano (decd), who she always remained very close with.
Mary graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1945, and remained active with the class of 45’ Reunion Committee. She was also active in singing with the WHLD Radio Station Choir during the 1940s, and enjoyed this very much.
Mary loved to write, her cursive writing was impeccable, she took great pride in her hand written record keeping, and it was such a beautiful thing.
On July 12, 1958 Mary married the love of her life, Angus A. Watson (decd) at St. Mary’s of the Cataract Catholic church in Niagara Falls New York, where they began their long love story that lasted over 64 years.
Together they lived in Niagara Falls New York until they decided to move to Port Charlotte Florida in the fall of 2006. They made many very close friends here in Port Charlotte who they spent much of their time with and always remained very close to.
Mary and Angus were always active and a big part of the community, they were members of several clubs and organizations, such as the American Legion, the Moose, the Elks, and the VFW. They always remained very active with the VFW Post 5690 where they enjoyed meals and card games with many of their friends quite often. Together they ran the Euchre games each week, and really enjoyed doing this together.
Mary was also a member of LaSalle Sportsmen’s club, the Women’s Spanish club, and the Mt. Carmel Altar and Rosary Society, and many others over the years.
Mary enjoyed playing Bocce and card games at the Condo Association Club House with all of the friends they made at the Lakeside of Charlotte County Condominiums where they lived and had many friends that all looked out for each other.
Mary is survived by sister-in-law Doreen Jircitano of Oroville California, and several nieces and nephews, including John A. Gualano and Joseph S. Gualano of Reno Nevada.
