

Col. Maynard D. Eaves, 76, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away July 4, 2012 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1936 in Shelton, NE. Colonel Eaves retired from the US Army Aug 31, 1992 after a long distinguished career serving our country. His education and training included; Jump Master School in 1965, Military Police Officer Advance Courses in 1969, Command General Staff College, 1973, Naval War College 1980, Inspector General Course, 1987. He was a graduate of Wichita State University in 1964, receiving his BA in Political & Police Science; a graduate of Michigan State University in 1971 with an MS degree. He served in Commander position at the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon from 1980-1982, CID, 6th Region Command 1985-1987 and served as an Inspector General, Dept. of Army HQINSCOM 1987-1991, the United States Army Intelligence & Security Command 1987-1991. He served during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of many decorations and medals for his service including the Purple Heart. He moved to Punta Gorda October 1993 from McClean, VA and in his retirement he enjoyed fishing, boating, and playing cards with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Eaves; children, Teresa (David) Standifer and Kevin (Liah) Eaves; grandchildren, Jennifer, DJ, Nash, Ginger and Liam; a brother, Kenneth (Cathy) Eaves, nephew, Matthew (Tiffany) Eaves.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL. A Military Service graveside at the Arlington National Cemetery will be held in the spring of 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the D.A.V at dav.org or to the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County at awlshelter.org
