

Vicki Warren Phillips, a resident of Port Charlotte, died Sunday, the 27th of November from injuries due to a car accident. Born September 26th, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Betty Warren. Vicki spent most of her life in the Indianapolis area until she retired to Port Charlotte, Florida. After graduating from North Central High School in Indianapolis, IN, she earned her Bachelors degree from Purdue University, graduating with honors. She continued her education, earning a Master’s degree from Butler University in Library Sciences and graduating as Valedictorian of her class. As an elementary school librarian, she spread her joy of books to young children for many years. She won the State of Indiana Elementary School Library Award while teaching at Woodbrook Elementary School in Carmel, IN. Active in the community, Vicki served as President of the Carmel Elementary School PTO and was a member of the Indianapolis Symphony. She continued to use her librarian skills to serve as a volunteer for the Port Charlotte library in retirement. Her family and friends will miss her warm and welcome personality and generous spirit. She is survived by Henry Phillips, her husband of 49 years, as well as her daughter, Shelley Luettgen of Franklin, WI; her son Scott Phillips and her daughter-in-law Heidi Phillips of Simpsonville, SC; and her five grandchildren, Bryan, Matt, and Hannah Luettgen and Valerie and Brandon Phillips.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2pm at Riverwood Activity Center, 4100 Riverwood Dr, Port Charlotte, FL 33953.
