Mildred M. Wood, 89, of North Port, FL, passed away on October 26, 2014.
Mildred had a big heart and volunteered at many organizations, she was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and a member of the Al-Anon. She was also a past member of the congregation of South Venice Baptist Church. Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew her.
She is survived by her children, David Wood and wife Sherri of North Port, FL, Michael Wood and special friend Cynthia Harrison of Naples, FL, Laura Wood and her partner Tammy Stephens of Englewood, FL and Joseph Wood of Pulaski, TN; grandchildren, Heather of Tallmadge, OH, Benjamin of North Port, FL, Michael Jr., of Atlanta, GA, Jasmine of Pulaski, TN and Alex of Tallahassee, FL; and by many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Elmo; daughter, Darlene and great-grandchild, Carson.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 5 PM to 7 PM at Kays-Ponger& Usleton Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at 9 AM with service to begin at 10 AM all at Kay-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL, 33950. Burial will take place at Venice Memorial Gardens.
