Nancy Helen Newport

Nancy Helen Newport, second child of Marvin & Helen (Gass) Evans, grew up in Bethlehem, PA, where she graduated from Liberty HS in 1960. She earned her RN degree from Reading Hospital in 1963, the same year she married Conrad Heins, Jr. Nancy and Connie made a home in Beltsville, MD, where daughter Edith Anne and son Conrad Paul, III were born. The couple parted ways in 1980, and Nancy remarried to Al Newport in 1982.

After the family moved to Ohio, Nancy went back to school in her 40s, graduating summa cum laude with a BS in community health education from Kent State University in 1990. Nancy’s nursing career stretched for four decades; her final position was at Alliance Community Hospital (Alliance, OH).

After Al’s passing, Nancy retired to Port Charlotte in 2008. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte and of the Women’s Club games group. Nancy provided a loving home to countless dogs and cats throughout her life.

In addition to her two children, survivors include her sister (Elizabeth Zuck), grandchildren (Austin and Michael Bouhebent + Victoria Evans), and sons-in-law (Phil Brewer and Matt DelNero).

A celebration of life will take place at First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte (2230 Hariet St.) on Saturday, December 27 at 11:00 AM. Nancy will be interred with her beloved Al at Memorial Cemetery in Bethlehem on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
