Ralph Spolzino passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 2 at the age of 92 in Port Charlotte, FL.
Born in Springfield MA, he graduated from Springfield College (BS in Education) and from Westfield State (MS in Counseling). He then proudly served in the US Marine Corps.
When he returned from the USMC he started teaching science at Duggan Junior High School. Later in his professional career he became a School Adjustment Counselor for the Springfield Bureau of Pupil Services.
He leaves behind his daughter, Stephanie Spolzino and her partner Peter Cotrone, his granddaughter, Arianna Spolzino-Watson and his brother, Richard Spolzino. His wife, Sally Spolzino preceded him in death.
Ralph, Sally and Stephanie lived 20+ years in Hampden MA with many dogs, ducks, geese and chickens on 7 acres. He also had a beach house in Niantic, CT where he spent every summer sailing and enjoying the shore.
Later he retired to Punta Gorda FL and settled in Burnt Store Marina. He was a member of the Platinum Point Yacht Club, the Elks Club and the Sons and Daughters of Italy.
Services will be Thursday, October 9th at 10:00 am at Kays-Ponger & Uselton, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte FL. Interment will be on Wednesday, October 22 at 10:00 am at Sarasota National Cemetery.
