Richard "Dick" Winter, 71, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009. He was born November 15, 1937 in Eldora, Iowa to Gilbert and Gladys Winter. Richard was a loving husband, caring father and pushover Papa. His love of nature, learning and travel was only eclipsed by his passion for his family.
He is survived by his wife Karen Winter; his mother Gladys; sons Kurt Shelley Kingsbury and Mark Carman Maxwell; daughter Elizabeth Kent Peterson; Grandchildren Megan, Matt, Sydney and Kate Winter and Megan, Zachary and Cody Peterson; sister Connie Ray Reidel; brother-in-law Don Amundson and sister-in-law Bonnie; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, 507 W. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Services will follow at 12 noon at the church.
The family suggests contributions to Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center CHEC 10941 Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33955 where he was a volunteer trail guide, the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda or to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
