Rita Rose Bailey (née Luciano) peacefully passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 91. Rita, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was born in October 1932 and spent her formative years in the City of Brotherly Love before relocating to Washington DC in the mid-1950s. She dedicated her entire adult life to her career at C&P Telephone Company, which later became AT&T, and ultimately retired in 1987, moving to Florida with her husband.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Julio Luciano and Rose Marie Luciano (née DeAngelo), as well as her daughter, Angela Marie Luciano and Nancy Trudeau (Paul). She also mourned the loss of four brothers, Marino, Francis, Dominic, and Joseph, and three sisters, Rose Marie, Julia Theresa, and Shirlainne.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Gerald (Jerry) Bailey, and leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Regina Marie Boston (Garrett), (7 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren), Jeffrey Scott Wigle (Megan), (2 Great Grandchildren) and Rita Marie Guevara (David) (4 Great Grandchildren), Steve Bailey (Wilma), (3 Grandchildren), Nancy Trudeau, Dec’d, (Paul) (3 Grandchildren), Kaeryn Bailey-Smith (Terry), (2 Grandchildren) and K. Susan McKisson (John) (3 Grandchildren). A special place in her heart was reserved for her niece and Goddaughter, Lisa Luciano-Barbour.
Rita was a vibrant and active individual who cherished her family fiercely. She had a passion for Quilting, Crocheting, Sewing, Bocci Ball and, her personal favorite, Bingo! Her infectious sense of humor and quick wit, accompanied by eyes that sparkled with mischief, endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
To honor Rita's remarkable life, a Celebration of Life will take place on December 9, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Holiday Inn Gaithersburg, Two Montgomery Village Ave, Gaithersburg MD 20879. In the spirit of her love for family, let us gather to remember and celebrate the legacy of a woman who left an indelible mark on our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Quilt Guild in Rita’s name would be appreciated.
