

Devoted Husband of Mary Lou (Halloran) Danehy. Loving Father of Robert Danehy and his partner Judy Halloran of Methuen, MA, Katherine (Danehy) Daut of Louisville, KY, Deborah (Danehy) Pappas and her husband Robert of Port Charlotte, FL, Marylou (Danehy) Wiggins and her husband Walter of Warner Robbins, GA, and Jennifer (Danehy) Geeve and her husband David of Des Plaines, IL. Dear Papa to Heather Danehy, Brittany Danehy, Kaleigh Pappas, Samantha Jackman, Kristie Pappas, Jeffrey Wiggins, Miranda Jackman, Chloe Pappas, Joseph Wiggins, and Tommy Jackman. Also Grand pets Pally Girl, Wrigley and Milo.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles Danehy and Mary (Gilgun) Danehy. Survived by his sister Mary (Danehy) Foley and her husband Robert of Wakefield, MA, Barbara (Danehy) Langley and her husband Edward of Acton, Ma and James Danehy and his partner Shirley Ensign of Attleboro, MA.
He graduated with honor from Woburn High School in 1961 and was a Tidd Scholarship recipient. He played hockey, baseball, ran track and cross country, was the Business Manager of The Tanner News. His senior year of high school, with two minutes left in the game he scored the winning goal against rival, Malden Catholic to beat them for the first time in the season opening jamboree.
He was a drummer in the marching band and also was a drummer for the musical group called "The Hobos".
He attended evening classes at Bentley College to study accounting and bookkeeping. He we went on to work as a Bookkeeper for Alitalia Airlines for 13 years. During the recession of the late 1970's he went on to work for Ormes Transportation who represented both Mayflower and Bekins as a foreman in the warehouse and furniture mover for another 13 years.
In 1987, he moved his family to Florida and shortly thereafter, he had his first heart attack. As fate would have it, he was unable to continue working in the same capacity. He joined the Port Charlotte Golf Club and worked in the pro shop for over 25 years. He enjoyed many years of playing golf and made many dear friends at Port Charlotte Golf Club.
He was diagnosed with lung cancer in the summer of 2012 and fought courageously through chemotherapy and radiation. He kept his sweet, uncomplaining demeanor throughout the process right up to the end when he peacefully passed at the Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, FL with his family by his side.
A memorial service will be held at Kays-Ponger Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL on Tuesday, August 20th at 11:00 AM.
