

COMBAT VETERAN
Ronald Perreault, 80, of Port Charlotte, FL formally of Bonita Springs FL, and Waterbury, CT, died January 1, 2024 at The Douglas T Jacobson State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Florida.
He leaves his wife of 58 years Rita Alice (Plourde) Perreault.
Ron was born October 1st, 1943 in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Real Perreault and Florence (Trepanier) (Perreault) Pearson.
At the age of 17, Ron drove cross country to Whittier, California to live with his brother and sister. He joined the Marine Corp and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, CA. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1967 aboard the USS Tripoli LPH-10. Ron completed 18 air combat missions into enemy territory on the Sikorsky CH-53 as a Sharp Shooter with the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463. “Pegasus”. When he returned to the states, he went back to school and became a Master Plumber working for the City of Waterbury until his retirement.
Ron was an avid NY Yankee and NY Jet fan. He loved Florida and enjoyed many decades in his IBE community in Bonita Springs with Rita and many friends.
Ron was a proud American and loved this great country. He instilled this love for his country in his children and grandchildren and taught them the importance of independence, freedom and the sacrifices made by men and women in our Armed Forces. He was a life member of the VFW.
Ron leaves behind his daughters, Wendy (Tom) Rossi and Shirley (Chuck) Ciampi. His grandchildren, Tom (Chantelle) Rossi, Michael Rossi. Tiffani (Johnny) Persechino, Chuck (Paige) Ciampi and 2 great-grandsons, Luca and Tommy III. His brother Edward (Shirley) Perreault from Hesperia, CA. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he enjoyed throughout his life. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Richard Perreault and his sister Lorraine Hunter.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and many thanks to the staff of The Douglas T Jacobson State Veterans’ Nursing Home for the wonderful care and respect given to Ron and his family during the last 3 months.
A celebration of life will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota FL with Full Military Honors at a later date.
