
She was born on February 17, 1916 in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of Nicolas and Anna (Berkovich) Walker. On August 29, 1936, she married Clifford R. Hughes. He preceded her in death in 2002. They raised their seven children in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Rose was a loving woman of strong faith. During her long active life, she enjoyed boating, golf, dancing, swimming, reading, playing cards and bingo. Most of all, she enjoyed her children, grandchildren and subsequent generations of her ever-expanding family, which now numbers over one hundred twenty members. We will all miss her but are comforted by the fact that she is enjoying her eternal reward in heaven, and the hope that we will see her again.
Rose is survived by her children: Richard (Florence) Hughes of Englewood, Florida; Barbara (Larry) Carie of Washington, Michigan; Nancy (John) Morris of Englewood, Florida; Tom Hughes of California; Susan (Robert) Funk of Waterloo, Iowa; Larry (Marcie) Hughes of Pfafftown, North Carolina; son-in-law, Richard (Beverly) Bishop of Loudon, Tennessee; nephew, William (Kathy) Herrick of Venice, Florida. Also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; a daughter, Carol Bishop; two sisters, Mollie Herrick Bittner and Barbara Hirt; and two brothers, Thomas and Nicolas Walker.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
