She graduated from Aplinton School in 1950. She worked for the Aplington Community School District from 1968 until she retired in 1995.
She had two children Jo Lynne (Barry) Vorwald and Jay Olsen; grandchildren, Tangee (Bryan) Sills of Colesburg, Iowa and Sloan Benson, Colorado Springs, CO. She has four step grandchildren, Todd Benson, Scott Benson (CA), Blake Vorwald (TX) and Wes Vowald (IA). There are eight step great grandchildren. She is survived by sister Aleasa Kampman (Allison, IA) LaVera Cuvelier (Aplington, IA) her children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Ralph Graham and her sister LaVon Diekman.
Shirley will be remembered for her pretty smile, generosity and piano playing. She entertained many through the years.
