

Sigbert “Ziggy” Myers was born on November 7, 1930, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to Clovis and Mabel Myers. On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, he peacefully made his transition at HCA Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida. In 1948, Ziggy migrated to the United States, and a year later, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably during the Korean War. After his military service, Ziggy worked as a postal worker for thirty years. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open 'Ziggy’s Deli' in the Bronx, New York.
In 1988, Ziggy relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida, where he served the Charlotte County Public School System for twenty years as a custodian. A man of strong faith, he was a dedicated member of the United Evangelical & Missionary Outreach Church (UEMO), where he served faithfully as a Deacon as well as President of the Men’s Ministry.
Ziggy was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Hilda Winsome Myers; his son, Nicholas Myers; sisters Joyce Myers and Doris Hunter; and brother Lincoln Myers. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica; son, Jason (Kyle); grandchildren Londin, Avaya, Ace, and Noah; sisters Eda (Keith) Kong, Zenadoina Reid-Smith, Erdie Myers, and Yvonne (Keith) Lyons; brothers-in-law Crafton Simpson and Joel Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Ziggy’s life was defined by faith, love, kindness, and service. His light will forever burn in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
