Peacefully returned to his heavenly home at age 40 on June 11, 2021 after an inspiring and courageous battle with colon cancer. Allistair “Ali” was born on November 2, 1980 in Johannesburg, South Africa and the youngest of three children of George and Lorraine Cockrell. He met his soul mate and love of his life, Stacy, while working on the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas cruise ship in 2005. Together, they travelled all over the world and later married on the beach in Mexico in July 2008. Allistair immigrated to Canada in 2009 where he and Stacy started to build their life on land together. They welcomed two beautiful boys, Aidan (9 years old) and Ashton (6 years old) to whom Allistair was an exceptional and loving father to. Allistair touched the lives of everyone he met and is best remembered as a gentle giant with a contagious smile and a huge heart. His smile never faded, not even during his 18 month battle. He often took the time to care about those around him, whether it be family or friends near and far, or even hospital care staff. This is who he was, an incredible human, who cared with his whole heart about everyone.
Allistair is survived by his devoted wife, Stacy; his beloved sons, Aidan and Ashton; loving parents, George and Lorraine Cockrell; adoring in-law parents, Richard and Cathy Lowe; sisters, Althea Cockrell (Domenico) and Deborah Cockrell; Brother and sister in-law, Aaron and Tracy Lowe; and his cherished nephew and niece, Nickolas and Alyssa Lowe. Allistair is also survived by his Grandpa in-law, Vince Forsberg. Allistair’s passing leaves a tremendous gap in very large extended families in South Africa and Canada.
