It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Daniel Alan Dancey, 69, of Coquitlam, B.C. Dan was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to parents Alan Dancey and Gladie Sparrow. Soon after in the 1960’s the family would make their way to British Columbia. After finishing school, Dan worked as a roofer but later made his career as a Refrigeration Mechanic for 40 years. In the early 2000’s he began purchasing Storage Locker Auctions. It became his hobby that brought him to purchasing a hangar at the Pitt Meadows airport. He would spend most of his time filling the hangar with all the items people left behind in their lockers. This allowed him to meet lots of interesting people and build great friendships. After retirement, Dan enjoyed growing Carolina Reaper Peppers around his house as well as other fruits and vegetables. He was a car enthusiast and spent most of his weekends drag racing his Buick Regal out at Mission Raceway. He was always good to animals and would carry dog treats around in his jacket pocket. Dan struggled with his health in the last couple years but was still very strong and ready to help anyone that needed it.
Dan leaves behind his daughter, Kristin Enes and grand children Kaylee, Owen and Zach. His son, Jeffrey Dancey. Dan is also survived by his separated wife, Cindy Dancey.
He will be sadly missed by many good friends and loving family that knew how much he cared for all of us.
A heart of gold stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
We wish to thank everyone for their kindness and support.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held in the coming months.
