Amid fond memories, we sadly announce the passing of a much loved family man. Gord was born in Virden MB to Frank and May. They taught him the value of hard work as a crop farmer and of the family as one of ten children. At 13, Gord took charge of the family farm while his father and brother went to serve in WW2. After the war, Gord began his career as an electrician’s helper in Churchill MB. This trade grew to be Lovegrove Electric Ltd that he continued to work at well into his 80’s.
In 1953, Gord followed some of his family to Vancouver. Quickly, Ella (nee Kiss) joined him and they were married in July. Together, they raised four children, moving to Coquitlam in 1971. Always generous, Gord provided well for his family. He worked hard, but always found time to help others. His garden was his joy. He was a hunter, fisherman, bridge player and Blue Jays fan. He was a quiet man and had a growing faith in Jesus Christ. He died peacefully surrounded by family and is now in a better place.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella; his four children: Lori Campeol (Virg), Julie, Gordie Lovegrove (Karen) and Kathie Pike (Howard); six grandchildren: Brianne, Jim (Brittany), Esther (Marwan), Sarah, Garrett, Courtney; three great-grandsons: Jamal, Hakim, & Caleb; six sisters, Esther, Joan (Norm), Iris, Marion, Joyce (Henry) & Vera; and many nieces and nephews. Gord was predeceased by his brothers: Lyle, Maurice, Phillip; brothers-in-law: Sam, John, George, Gren; and granddaughter, Annaliesa.
A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 1 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 Regan Ave, Coquitlam BC. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the BC Alzheimer Society at Alzheimer.ca/bc/.
