KWOK -- Harry passed away January 12, 2021, in Richmond BC. He is survived by his wife Eman (nee Wong), his two sons Andrew (Stephanie) and Phil (Heather), and grandchildren Jeffrey, Richard, Benjamin, Shelby and Wesley, and his siblings Tony (Mary) and Nina. Predeceased by his eldest grandson, Michael, in 1992.
Born and raised in China, Harry was active in sports during his youth and young adulthood, especially softball and soccer; he started training to become a jockey after moving to Hong Kong, but ultimately chose a different path as the priorities of family and work commanded all his attention.
In 1972, he relocated with his wife and children to Canada. The challenge of establishing a new career required considerable time and effort, first as a restaurant franchisee and later settling into a career in the local forestry industry. Upon retirement, he and Eman enjoyed travelling together, especially cruising to Alaska. In the most recent years, as his mobility diminished, he was content to enjoy his favourite sports on tv from the comfort of his living room.
He was a long-time supporter of several local charities including St. Paul's Foundation, Covenant House Vancouver, BC Cancer Foundation, Canadian Wildlife Foundation, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and Richmond Hospital Foundation. His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honour to Richmond Hospital Foundation.
