Irene Lillian Mary Harper, 82, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved her so deeply. After a very brief battle with AML, she left this world with the same grace and quiet strength that defined her life.
Born on January 7, 1943, in Richmond, England, Irene immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in Halifax in 1947. She is predeceased by her mother, father, sister, and brother, and is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years Ken; her daughters, Corrina and Shannon (Oran); and her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa (Mike), Darian (Marie), Sierra and Peyton.
To all who knew her, Irene was a steady, radiant presence – a source of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. She was “Mom or “Nanny” not only to her own family, but to countless others who were welcomed into her heart and home. Her kindness was effortless, her warmth unmistakable, and her ability to make others feel seen and valued was one of her greatest gifts.
Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of her family, friends, and the many people she touched simply by being herself. The love she gave so freely will continue to echo in the stories shared, the traditions carried on, and the memories held close.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, with details to follow.
