

It is with great sadness that the family of John Schulz announce his peaceful passing on June 13, 2025. John was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on April 15, 1934, the son of David and Susanna Schulz. John / Johnny - as most family called him, was the youngest son of six children: Ike, Sue, Dave, Katherine and Mary.
Johnny's family moved from Medstead Saskatchewan to Chilliwack in 1948 and then; he moved with his own family to Coquitlam, in 1964. Johnny was a Heavy Equipment Operator most of his working life, mainly running his own Bulldozer, until he retired in 1999. He was a proud Union man - a member of the Operating Engineers since September 1957.
Johnny married the love of his life, Wanda Buehler on July 30th, 1957. They were married 47 years until Wanda's passing in 2004. They had two children together, Kimberly and Michael.
John was a very hard worker and took pride in everything he did, including his appearance! He instilled that strong work ethic within his family and there wasn't much he couldn't fix or build!
John's hobbies included getting his personal pilot's license, flying a plane was a dream he had since he was a young man. John also enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle for many years and then; after retirement he enjoyed restoring and driving his old Chrysler. John and Wanda enjoyed travelling with friends to parts of Europe, Arizona and back to Saskatchewan to name a few. His biggest reward in life was his own kids and eventually his grandkids. He was very proud to be called their Opa.
John is survived by his sister Mary (Bob Menges), daughter Kim (Bill Hodal, deceased) granddaughter Fayme, son Mike (Dalene), granddaughter Westley, grandson Clayton as well as brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, July 4th 2025, at First Memorial Funeral Services Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave, Port Coquitlam with interment at 2:30 PM at Robinson Cemetery, 621 Robinson Street, Coquitlam.
