With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Judy Kozbial was born in Trail, BC, on October 19, 1944, and passed peacefully in Port Coquitlam on January 31, 2026.
She was known for her open arms, especially when there was a baby nearby. If an infant was present, it would soon be happily settled in her embrace. Caring for others was simply who she was.
For over 30 years, she worked as an Operating Room nurse, spending most of her career at Lions Gate Hospital. Her compassion extended beyond her profession through volunteering at SHARE and preparing Christmas gift boxes for seniors and those in need, quietly ensuring others felt remembered and cared for.
Judy had a gift for bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging. She was the organizer—the one who brought people together, especially around holidays and milestones—often welcoming friends and extended family around her table so no one ever felt left out.
She is survived by her loving husband Richard, son Jason, daughter Alecia, grandchildren Kamiko and Hanako, and her older sister Faye, along with many extended family members, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her warmth and kindness.
She will be remembered for her open heart and her unwavering commitment to caring for others. Her legacy lives on in the family she held together, the community she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
