Lucille "Lucy" Clarisse Marie Razzell, wife of Murray, and mother to Derek, Melissa and Michael, passed away on April 6th, 2024 after a long battle with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS). Her final moments were spent peacefully at Eagle Ridge Hospital surrounded by family.
Known for her continually positive attitude, loving nature and kindness to those around her, Lucy will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lucy’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Lucy was born on June 21, 1952, to Albin and Adrienne Lebeau in Baldur, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm near Pilot Mound the oldest of 7 children. She first attended school at Ecole Mariapolis, and later attended school in Somerset. Lucy enjoyed spending time with friends, listening to music and crafts such as cross-stitch and sewing.
She met her future husband, Murray, in 1973 in Winnipeg and married in 1976. In 1980 they decided to pull up stakes and move to the west coast landing in Port Moody, BC. In 1981, Lucy delivered her first child, Derek, and realizing they needed more space for their growing family, soon moved to a townhouse in Port Coquitlam’s Meridian Village, which was to become “home.” Lucy and Murray’s family expanded in 1985 with the birth of daughter, Melissa, and again in 1988 with the birth of son, Micheal.
Lucy dedicated the next years to raising her kids, while Murray worked to support the family. She returned to the workforce as the kids got older, however began experiencing some health issues, eventually being diagnosed with PLS in the early 2000’s. Once again out of the workforce, and now dealing with this diagnosis, Lucy focused on family, which as of 2003 included grandkids. Receiving never-wavering support from Murray, Lucy continued to set an example of grace and displayed such gratitude for the little things in life, rather than dwelling on her circumstances. Even as she faced an increasing number of challenges due to symptoms of PLS, she remained a bright light for her family, and to all those that were lucky enough to know her.
Lucy is survived by her husband Murray, children Derek (Stacey), Melissa (Ian) and Micheal (Caitlyn), siblings Guy (Cathy) Lebeau, Diane (Ben) Van Cauwenberghe, Gisele Jowett, Leonard Lebeau, and Janet Lebeau; Sister in-law Rufina Razzell, Brother in-law Doug Barnes, Nieces and nephews, Robert, Steven, Anna, Kevin, Heather, Joey, Tara, Kim, Matthew, Steven, Kim, Rob, Karen, Shaun, Ashley; Grandchildren Morgan, Owen, Austin, Dylan, Emily, Hailey, and Danny, as well as her beloved cat Tuxedo.
She is preceded in death by her father Albin Lebeau, father in-law Edwin Razzell, mother in-law Jean Razzell, brother Don Lebeau, brother in-law Dave Jowett, brother in-law Ken Razzell, and sister-in law Lynnda Razzell.
