Marguerite Susan Labranche
18 junio , 1950 – 20 abril , 2020
It is with heavy hearts we share, on Monday, April 20, 2020, Marguerite Susan Labranche (Sue), nee Whitfield, passed away peacefully at the age of 69, at George Derby Centre in Burnaby, B.C. Sue will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed. Sue is survived by her sister Anne Henry (Kevin), her niece Christel (Billy), her nephew Mike (Erin), her stepson Craig Labranche (Nancy), her grandson Jaden and her granddaughter Jessica. She is predeceased by her father Joseph, her mother Marguerite and husband Bob Labranche. Sue was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Her parents moved to Edmonton when she was two years old, where she grew up. As a young woman, Sue moved to Vancouver and worked at Evergreen Press. The people at Evergreen Press became her family and through the years she continued to meet up with “the boys” for breakfast. Sue moved to Oliver in 1981 then back to Vancouver in 1985. Sue joined the Port of Vancouver Police as a dispatcher. She met Constable/Sergeant Bob Labranche who would become the love of her life. The two married in 1993, travelled, entertained and enjoyed a wonderful life together until Bob’s sudden passing in 2003. Sue spent the next 10 years being a dedicated grandmother to her two grandchildren, thoroughly enjoying sleepovers and attending their activities. She loved visits from friends and family especially her niece and nephew. Sue always brought a smile and a positive energy everywhere she went. She was passionate about the many dogs she owned over the years. She was known for her sense of humour and practical jokes. Sue was a kind and generous friend to so many and always opened her heart and home. Sue was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in 2012 at the age of 62. In January 2016 Sue began living at George Derby. Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers and staff at George Derby Centre and Sue’s dear friends and companions for their care and support. With the current state of pandemic there will not be a service held at this time. Meanwhile, family will be working on a memorial slide show to share. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to BC Children’s Hospital.

Our condolences goes out to Susan's Family and Friends.
In the early days we both worked at Evergreen Press. And those were great years. With so many fond memories.
As the years went by and as we all retired. And eventually a few of us got together for a Breakfast. As more people learned about the Breakfast it became very popular with many Retired Employees of Evergreen Press.
The Breakfast started in earnest in 2002. Became known as "The Grumpy Old Men's Breakfast". We got together four times a year.
Susan came to many of those Breakfasts. And She will be deeply missed.

In sadness I recall the wonderful memories of our friendship when we first connected in school 50 plus years ago. I remember so clearly the day you announced your move to Vancouver , and you never regretted it. True friendship is a place where you feel safe in being who u are without judgement. The love, support, laughter, tears, crazy-ness and sense of humor that what I was blessed with. Thank u girlfriend. So I will make us a bowl of popcorn, pour the wine and celebrate the gift. Till we meet again Love always

So sorry to hear about Sue. We were Sue & Bobs neighbours on Parkside until she moved to George Derby. Sue & I went on many long walks together with the dogs and shared more than a few glasses of wine over the years. She was a kind & thoughtful person who we were all the better for knowing.

My girlfriend, I met you at the Port, 30+ years ago and life was never the same. You showed me how to laugh, love and say a few other words...You and Bob were an amazing couple, your wardrobe was stunning and wish I could have shared your physique, to share your clothes :) Always looked forward to Bob’s peach schnapps concoction and you me and Celia, belting out “teenage dirtbags...” before heading out for a night on the town....we were good! Thank you Gary for looking after and loving my friend, Anne, Kevin, Craig, Nancy and family for looking out for Sue. I have so much more to say but will leave it here. Sue, I have missed you dearly, you are an amazing person with the biggest heart and unbelievable spirit...you are forever in my heart...until we meet again my friend. My sincere thoughts, prayers and condolences to all of Sue’s family and friends xoxoxo
