Richard was an incredibly smart and generous person who placed a great deal of importance on family. He was always there to support family members and took great pride in being the best uncle possible to his nephews. Richard was a great cook who would make gourmet meals and wow the boys with onion volcanoes during the camping trips that he loved. Richard also enjoyed learning and trying new things. Whether it was something artistic (making driftwood sculptures, glass etching and baking), something practical (gardening, pickling, and cooking) or his latest endeavour (curling) he always went in 100%.
Richard is also leaving behind his work family at Telus, where for over 25 years he made connections with those he worked with. He initially started in the call center and worked his way up to be Manager of Data Analytics where, in his own words, he was “supporting an awesome team of Data Scientists.”
Richard left a mark on all those who knew him. His sense of humour, generosity and presence will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten.
Richard is survived by his parents Sy and Anne Feenstra, his brother Robert (wife Georgie), his sister Susanne (husband Shaun) and his nephews Kieran, Kai, Henrik, Pieter, and Jeremy.
