It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen George Hack on March 8, 2023 at Shaughnessy Care Centre in Port Coquitlam, B.C.
Born in Victoria B.C. on May 28, 1951 to George and Alda Hack, Steve spent the majority of his childhood in Vancouver, B.C. with his brothers Cy, Stan and Rob. He spent his final 3 years of high school in Los Angeles before moving back home to B.C.
In 1981, Steve married the love of his life, Donna. They enjoyed their time together at their home in Port Coquitlam, hosting friends and family, spending wonderful times in their garden, and playing with their dogs Loki and Rosie. They also enjoyed taking holidays in the Cariboo, California and especially the Okanagan.
Steve spent most of his working life in the forestry industry, where he met close friend Jack Pickell, and a group of fellow accountants, who became life-long friends sharing a yearly getaway for cards, good food and socializing.
Steve was predeceased by his father in 2001, his mother in 2006, his cousin Ron Hack in 2018, Aunt Nancy in 2019 and his dear mother-in-law Sophie Kwitkowski in December 2022.
Steve is remembered and missed by his loving wife Donna; his brothers Cy, Stan, and Rob; his niece Lindsay Hack; his niece Christine Kwitkowski and family; his nephew Kevin Kwitkowski and family; and so many other family and friends.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Shaughnessy Care Centre who provided a safe and loving home for Steve during his final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
