(April 9, 1940 – December 5, 2025)
Tom Gee, devoted father, grandfather, educator, and longtime Osoyoos resident, passed away on Dec. 5th at the Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, BC.
Born in Cupar, SK and raised in Osoyoos, BC, Tom was a proud member of the RMC Class of ‘63 and served as a naval aviator early in his career before dedicating nearly three decades to education in Alberta, teaching high school English, and later serving in leadership roles within the provincial Department of Education.
An avid outdoorsman, Tom had a passion for canoeing, skiing, windsurfing, and motorcycling which he shared with his two sons, and five grandchildren. He especially loved long canoe expeditions and cross-country motorcycle trips; adventures that became treasured family stories and inspiration for his many writings.
After retiring to Osoyoos, Tom was an active volunteer with the Osoyoos Desert Centre, and participated in community curling, and local carving and woodworking groups. He remained an engaged Alumnus of RMC.
Tom’s sons and their families, his nieces and nephews, friends and companions will fondly remember his sharp intellect, wit, warmth, curiosity, baked apple pies and his enduring sense of adventure. He will be deeply missed.
So let us go then, you and I,
Beyond the blues of winter’s sky
Unto the realms of bye and bye
Where only larks and eagles fly,
There to hear in dusky grove
With unicorn and morning dove
Murmurs drifting from above
Whence poets speak of gods at love.
-Tom Gee
A celebration of life will be held with family at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Tom’s honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
