We are sad to share that William Vandersanden, a dear husband, father, Opa, brother and friend passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Susan, sister Jeanne, sons Robert (Brenda) and Eric (Pat), grandchildren Ryan (Rebecca), Chloe (Chase), Reece and Christa (Jack) and many more friends and family in Canada and the Netherlands.
Bill lived a long and happy life. He was born in Eindhoven, Netherlands in 1933, one of ten children. He came to Canada in 1957 and a few years later began a long career with IBM in Toronto. After retiring from IBM he moved to Vancouver in 1993 to be closer to family.
The three things Bill loved most in life were travelling, good food and being with friends and family. Bill and Susan travelled extensively in N. America, Europe and Asia, especially enjoying their cruises on Holland America in their later years. He was always the life of the party with a quick wit, funny story and an odd love of sticking spoons on his face and napkins rings or egg cups over his eyes.
Bill was cremated and will be interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby. For those wishing to make a donation please consider Covenant House in Vancouver or a hospital foundation of your choosing.
