Albert Miele, 88, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He is survived by his children, son Albert Miele and Cody Ann Cook, daughters Donna Miele and Dan Williamson, and Teresa and Rich Hallett. His two cherished grandsons, Poppy's little guys, Derek and Justin Hallett. His sisters, Antoinette Judd and Gloria (Bob) Schneider. Also, surviving a sister-in-law Joanne (Paul) Powell, and a brother-in-law Loren (Patti) Teeple and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie (Teeple) Miele in 2021. He was 1 of 11 children and was predeceased by his 4 brothers, Val, Angelo, Carl and Sam and 4 sisters, Delores, Leona, Rose and Josephine and his parents Mose and Isabel (Mazza) Miele.
He was an avid bowler for years. He and Mom both bowled in many leagues. Later on, Dad bowled in a Friday Night league at Midway with his brothers Sam and Carl, Dewey Noonan, and Steve Kimble. They enjoyed many a night in the Lounge watching the Rhythm Kats after bowling with Mom, Annie Miele and sometimes us kids. Those were the days.
He was proud of his Italian roots. He enjoyed making his homemade sauce and meatballs for Sunday family dinners even up until a few weeks ago. His grandsons waited for the meatballs hot out of the frying pan. He grew up on the south side of Binghamton eventually working for Crowley Foods for 46 years, which was a stones throw from where his childhood home was on "the flats." He knew everyone on that side of town and many of his childhood friends knew they could stop and see Al at the Garage, when they had a few minutes to reminisce. He will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren. But we know he missed mom so much everyday and he wanted to be with her.
We would like to thank Binghamton General Hospital staff in the emergency room and the ICU unit for the excellent care of our father in his final days. The kindness you gave to him and all of us will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 9:30-10:30am with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:30am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.WmRChase.com for the Miele family.
