

Betty Lou (Stickles) Houck, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 after a long illness surrounded by her son Blaine and grandchildren Janelle and Rory. She was predeceased by her parents Edward Stickles and Frances VanLeuven, children Harold, Sally Ann, Lenny and Cindy, granddaughter Rachel and great grandson Jacob, niece Kelly, ex-husband Blaine, brother Samuel and the love of her life Earl.
She is survived by her son Blaine, stepdaughters Sharon Ann, Erika and Sharon Lisa; sister-in-law Gloria, niece Brooke, nephew Josh, son-in-law Paul; grandchildren Raymond, Rory (Cori), Elijah, Ayla, Janelle (Richard), Nathan, Christian, Daniel, Martin and Adam; great grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Osiris, Damien, Skyler, Dashiell, Kassandra and Klover. She is also survived by her wonderful friends Grace Ann, David, Marjorie, Aurea, Colette, Amanda, Jess, Lauren, Laura, Aubrey, Georgie, Sue, Joyce, Cathy, Carol and all of her daycare babies and cat baby.
Betty worked at Fowlers, Boscovs, The Binghamton Club, Day Nursery, YWCA and was a foster grandparent for 17 years. Betty had many hobbies including gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family. Betty will be remembered for being a loving, caring mother, grandmother and friend. The family would like to thank the 6th floor palliative care unit at Binghamton General Hospital for their compassion and care of Betty Lou.
A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 12-4pm at the Johnson City Senior Center, 30 Brocton Street, Johnson City, NY 13790.
Please wear purple in honor of Betty Lou.
A Private burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
