Constance Jones passed away in Rochester, NY on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at age 62. Our dearest Connie. Vivacious, sparkling, high spirited, and an all around dynamic woman. How do you sum up such a beautiful life? How do you put the pure joy that was Connie Jones into a few paragraphs? We shall endeavor, but know dear reader, that she was so much more.
A beautiful baby girl born on May 27, 1961. Her birthday later became a holiday, a day we'd celebrate with joy; lovingly known as Connie Jones Day. She was born an absolute firecracker to her parents Carmen (Olga Riedelbauch) and Thomas Jones, and not a day went by when she didn't miss them, because they left this world too soon. She loved them deeply, often peppering their wisdom and stories to those she met. She carried on her mother's German culture and heritage, weaving that into so many aspects of her life, and photos of her father were sprinkled all throughout her home.
From the moment she came into this world she was loved by her siblings Tommy, Susan, and Carmen. The years that followed watched her grow from a scamp with a sense of humor and adventure to a stunning young woman who couldn't wait to get out and make her impact on the world. She shared a love of life and travel with her brother Tommy, whom she nurtured and cared for in his final days. She shared a career and passion for service with her sister Susan, who she always aspired to be more like; always lamenting that she and Susan didn't have more time together before Susan tragically lost a battle to cancer. Connie is survived by her sister Carmen, her partner in shopping, her Sissy, her fashionista, reality-television-buddy, best friend, and someone she loved to play pranks on and with. Connie had many cousins she loved dearly and cousins who loved to tease her because she was the baby of the family.
To say she loved her niece Andrea, Andrea's husband Matt, her nephew Zac and his wife Kate, her nephew PJ, and her great nephews Kinley, Calder, and Tiernan would be an understatement. Her family was her world. She remembered every birthday, every like, every dislike, and every detail. She was more than an aunt; she was a second mom, a confidant, a shoulder to cry on, and a friend.
In 2000, Connie met the love of her life, her husband Karl, and Connie was the love of his. She may have kept her name, but she gave him her heart. She knew it was love at first sight, and they shared 23 beautiful years together. She didn't hesitate to say "yes" to a life with him. Connie didn't just love Karl, she knew she had found her soulmate. They filled all of their days together, never taking them for granted. They would dance in the living room to Van Morrison, they would travel the country soaking up the sights, and they would be just as content to sit on their deck and laugh with each other. Restaurants, music, family, friends, and a love for life were the ties that bound Connie and Karl. They loved each other unconditionally, building a beautiful home and life together. A great joy in Connie's life was becoming a part of the Snyder family, a sister to Kurt (Nancy), Libby, (John Thomas) John (Teri), and an aunt to the many Snyder nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In marrying Karl, Connie gained a daughter Rachel. There was no "step" in their world, just a lucky girl who gained a mom, and a tremendous woman who did so much to make the three of them a family. Connie was so proud of Rachel, always believing in her dreams, and helping make them a reality. Connie welcomed Rachel's husband Tom into the family immediately, and the four of them went on many adventures, making friends along the way.
Connie had a razor sharp wit and magnificent memory. She'd make her besties laugh, whether it was the Space Cadets, her Denny's Crew, or one of the many friends she made throughout her life. She had hundreds of friends, and to Connie there was no such thing as a stranger, only a friend she hadn't met yet. She had a tremendous career in the restaurant industry, and never forgot a customer. And while many of us forget what we eat for breakfast, Connie remembered what hundreds of people had, without ever writing a single order down.
Connie's life and her vibrant soul was known to everyone who she encountered. She was filled to the brim with love. Her last day on this Earth was spent with the people she loved the most, spreading her light to all she met.
Connie, our darling. You lived each day to the fullest. You were rampant with joy and your laugh was infectious. Your life was rich. No birthday, no holiday, no celebration will ever be the same without you. We will never be the same, you were the dearest daughter, the sweetest sister, a beloved wife, a beautiful mother, and a treasured friend. We hope you have the most beautiful tiara, and are reunited with everyone you love.
Hold those you love close, never forget to say I love you, and know that we're not here on Earth for a long time, just here for a good time. Connie certainly did. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Fenton Free Library, one of Connie’s favorite places.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, August 12th, from 12pm-3pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901.
