
Norwich: Doris E. (Markel) DiLuzio, 76, passed away peacefully at Wilson Memorial Hospital on September 22, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Doris is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Edith Wilson; two brothers, Fred and Albert; and sister-in-law, Muriel. Doris is survived by two sons, a daughter and their spouses, Thomas & Susan Markel, Clifton, VA, Charles Merkel, Port Crane, and Lori and Mark Kenyon, Chenango Forks. She is also survived by her four beloved granddaughters, Ashley and Rachel Kenyon, Anna and Erica Merkel. Doris was born in Jersey City, NJ and attended Dumont High School. She was a graduate of Donovan Secretarial School. She raised her family in Milford, NY. While raising her children, Doris worked as a teacher's aide for Milford Central School and later as a typist for the Otsego County Mental Health Dept. Doris retired after working 28 years as a transportation office assistant for the New York State Dept. of Transportation in Oneonta, NY. She was a devout Episcopalian throughout her life and was a member of various parishes including Christ Church in Cooperstown, NY. She was a resident at The Hearth at Castle Gardens in Vestal, NY for 8 years where she fought courageously with Huntington's Disease. The end of her illness was spent at Valley View Nursing Home in Norwich. Doris will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than watching her granddaughters grow up and sharing special moments with each of them. Mom, our love for you will not stop growing and you will forever be in our hearts. A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Holy Spirit Cemetery at a later date.
