Elaine M. New

of Chenango Bridge

Elaine M. New, 88, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2012. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert; children; Mike and Lynn New, Denise New, Cheryl Baugh; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Mara, Jennifer, Shawn, Meredith, and Evan; great-granddaughter, Madison; nieces, Janice and Kyle and Marylorene and Joe. Elaine graduated from Hornell High School Class of 1941 and Bryant Stratton College. She retired from Chenango Valley School District as the secretary for the Athletic Director. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and will be remembered for her excellent cooking, baking and skilled needlepoint and knitting. She also played the piano and organ and was a member to many bridge clubs. Elaine was a friend to everyone, a great neighbor and had many close ties to the community.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elaine's memory to the Chenango Valley Athletic Department, 221 Chenango Bridge Road Binghamton, NY 13901.
