

Elizabeth (Liz) N. Barnes Coons, 74, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She is survived by the love of her life, Brent Rueffer, 4 daughters: Karen Gonzalez (Jack), Colleen Bowles (Sandy), Terri Otis (Eric) and Lori Garvey (Brian). She is also survived by 1 sister, Ella Mae Lindow and her only living aunt, Dorothy Barnes (Aunt Dot). Liz was a wonderful Grandma of Michelle (Mick) Roseburgh and Dave, Mike and Kelly Otis, Jim (Jimbo) & Heather Otis, Jamie (Squirma) McLean, and Scott McLean and Ashley and step-grandson Jeremy Garvey. She was the Great-Grandma to Erica, Denzel, TJ, Destiny, Tiffany, Dominick, Payton, Talon, Tyler, Hunter, Kaleb, Alexus, Brian and Coby, as well as Great-Great-Grandma to Sofie. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Liz was predeceased by her parents, Tina Mae and Clifford Charles Barnes and her siblings, George, Betty, Jim (Unk), and Cliff (Jake) as well as her mother-in-law, Pansy West and brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Roseanne Rueffer. The things she loved the most to do was playing games with her family including pinochle, dominoes, and Slotomania on her iPad. She was an avid coin collector, recipe card fanatic and loved to sew and do arts & crafts. Liz worked at Kroehler's Manufacturing for many years. Additionally, it was not a career, but she was very proud and enjoyed serving as head score keeper for the Binghamton Bowling Association. Most recently, she was an active volunteer for the Dick's Sporting Goods Open. Since 2007 she was an active member of the Endicott Lion's Club. In 2010, she became President, Queen Lion Liz. Liz was extremely grateful for her care from UHS, specifically Dr. Ronald Harris and Dr. MaryAnn Modrak and staff. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY. Burial will be at a later date.
