Esther R. Shafer, 84 passed away surrounded by her family, Thursday, April 12, 2018. She was predeceased by her daughter Bonnie Shafer and brother Gerald Eccleston. She is survived by her loving husband Lloyd of 67 years; son and daughter-in-law Gary & Karen Shafer, daughter & son-in-law Sue & Bill Crawford, son & daughter-in-law Wes & Deb Shafer, son & daughter-in-law Brad & Diane Shafer and daughter Jennifer; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Ruth and Lillian; several nieces, nephews and her church family. Esther was a retired employee of Broome Community College with over 25 years of service. She loved music and was a church organist and pianist for over 50 years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family who will dearly miss her.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2pm, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1282 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY 13905. Burial will follow in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1pm until the time of service.
