Dr. Florence M. Margai

Margai, Dr. Florence M.Vestal: Dr. Florence M. Margai, of Vestal, 52, went to be in the arms of the Lord on Thursday January 8, 2015 from Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her father, Albert Toma Lansana, as well as several other family members. Dr. Margai is survived by her husband, William; daughters, Luba and Konya Margai; her mother, P.C. Matilda Lansana-Minah 5th; sisters, Alberta, Keturah, Alice, Martha, Jane and June; brother, Albert; along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dr. Margai was a professor of geography at SUNY in Vestal and the Associate Dean at Harper College, also a member of the American Executive Committee Association of Geographers. Dr. Margai has traveled quite a bit of the world for research and pleasure, she was a writer and well published. She was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church and belonged to the Women's Group. Dr. Florence M. Margai was loved by many and will be dearly missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 4 PM at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church 83 Main St. Binghamton, NY 13905. Family and friends are invited to the church on Wednesday January 21, 2015 from 2-4 PM. Burial will be in VA. Those wishing kindly consider memorial contributions in Dr. Margai's name to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Doctors Without Boarders and the Suffyan Koroma Jr. Sickle Cell Foundation.
