Gary C. Smith

Gary C. Smith, age 69, of Binghamton, New York passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 12, 2024. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Jay Smith and mother, Mary Jane Smith (Johnston). He is survived by his brother Bruce R. Smith (Carolyn Scott), twin daughters Rachell Smith (Floyd Burns) and Casey Slocum (David Benning); grandson, Dakota James Richard Sager (Cassandra Geertgens); granddaughter, Abigail Jane Benning; and great-grandson, Sylas Anthony Sager. Gary graduated from Chenango Valley Central Schools and went on for his Associates degree at Broome Community College. He was a salesman throughout his entire professional career, including working for Toasperns, Conklin Cycle Center and Snap-On Tools. He was a New York State certified motor vehicle inspector and Notary Public. During the first half of his life, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling and living life to its fullest. In the second half, he slowed down and enjoyed the little things. Gary was mechanically inclined, liked to tinker and dabbled in writing, most notably his intra family news bulletins, including his electronic pear tree bulletins that humorously described the fate of his beloved pear trees. He absolutely cherished the moments with his family, and will be dearly missed.
