

Marion (Lorenc) Kocak, 89, of Binghamton, NY passed away on July 1st , 2014 surrounded by family. We know she has been joyfully reunited with her parents; Anna (Polednak) and John Lorenc; her sisters, Velma Richard) Ondrako, Rosalie (Al) Balan, Ann Krna; her brother, Joseph (Edith) Lorenc, brother, Edward Lorenc; brothers-in-law, John Kocak and John Hudak. She is survived by her husband, Robert Kocak, daughter, Marianne (Michael) Cashman, son, Robert (Denise) Kocak and son, William (Susan) Kocak. Marion loved her seven grandchildren and was a great grandmother to three. She is also survived by her sister, Betty (Jack) Kinsley and sister-in-laws, Barbara Kocak, Helen Lorenc and Mildred Hudak, numerous special nieces and nephews. The Kocak and Lorenc families have many great memories of family reunions on the July 4th on Stratmill Road.
Marion was born in Forest City, PA on August 6, 1924. She was the Forest City High School Class of 1942, class Valadictorian. She joined the Naval Reserve (WAVES) in 1942 and served during World War II. Marion's years in the waves were her proudest years. After the war, Marion's family relocated to the First Ward in Binghamton. Marion worked at the Binghamton Savings Bank on Clinton Street and was an active member of St. Cyril's Church. Marion's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to play the piano. She was an avid craftsperson who loved knitting, crocheting, tatting and sewing. She was an excellent cook and was known in the family for her delicious strudel, pies, pierogies and halupki. The family sends sincere gratitude to the staff at Saint Louise Manor and Elizabeth Church Manor for helping make Marion's last years some of the most peaceful of her life. Special thanks to the nurses and aides who cared for her everyday.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 5-7 pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY. A funeral mass will be offered on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Cyril's Church at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in the Slovak Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Marion's name to Actions for Older Persons, Colonial Plaza, 32 West State Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
