Our father passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, April 28th, to be reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Pauline. He is survived by their daughters and sons-in-laws, Karon Lewis, Linda (Norman) Quinn, Deborah (Harry) Schafer and Brenda (David) Simms; grandchildren Nicole, Cherie, Jeff, Kevin, Scott and Matthew and 15 great grandchildren, as well as sister-in-law, Beverly Jean Roberts and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Margaret and Ralph Roberts, sisters, Dorothy Kilpatrick, Ruth Ehrets, Rachael Bump and Marjorie Roberts; brothers Albert, Carl and Jim Roberts and son-in-law, Gary Lewis. He retired after 30 years with Gorick Construction and served as Town of Windsor Highway Superintendent. He lived the last years of his life reading from morning til night, everything from his daily newspaper to biographies and westerns, all with failed eyesight and unfailing memory. He was our lively ”energizer bunny”, still golfing at 88 years of age and amazing everyone who witnessed the speed at which he could push a walker.
We would like to send a special thank you to all of his caregivers he so fondly called his “women”, especially Tiffany and Barb for the loving and devoted care they provided at the end. We will always cherish Matthew’s unwavering watchful eye over his papa. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Windsor with the Rev. Rob Abell officiating. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery following the service. Friends may call at the church from10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing kindly consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or the Windsor United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 56 Chapel Street, Windsor, NY 13865.
