

Freeman, Virginia
Binghamton: Virginia Freeman, of Binghamton, went home to be in the arms of her Lord on Monday, April 23, 2012, after a brief illness. Virginia was born into this life on July 24, 1948 to the late Harry R. & Dorothy (Pell) Hughes. She is survived by her husband, Jerrold Sr. of Jamaica, NY; two sons, Jerrold Jr. and wife Melissa of Alexandria, VA, Christopher of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters and two brothers, Dorothy Furgeson of Binghamton, Harriett Heath of Endicott, April Thomas and husband David of Charlotte, NC, Harry Hughes and Sheree of Wappingers Falls, NY, Larry Hughes of Charlotte, NC; also two aunts, Jessy Terry of Binghamton and Mary Hughes of Albany, NY; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Virginia was a graduate of SUNY, NYC with an Associate's in Liberal Arts, and held positions locally with Broome County Urban League and YWCA. Previously in New York she was employed with the Youth Employment Services. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with her nephew, Deacon Tyrone A. Heath, officiating at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901.
