

Pappalardo, Annette C. on May 15, 2015 of East Quogue, Long Island. Beloved wife of the late Col. Charles Pappalardo. Loving mother of Carole Pappalardo (Dennis Ross), David C. Pappalardo (Kathleen Werther), Nancy Bishop (David) and the late Jayne Pappalardo. Cherished grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 6. Dear sister of Chrissie Solberg (Finn). Annette was born in Staten Island, NY in 1924 to Michael and Anna Canary. In her youth, she enjoyed basketball, ice-skating, dancing and going to the picture shows with her sister Chrissie. She met her husband, Charles, in 1942 at the USO in Staten Island. They were married that year on November 28th after a whirlwind courtship of 3 months. She and her husband settled in Bayside, NY to raise their four children. Annette was very active in her children’s education at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament school and was very proud to serve as the President of the Rosary Society. She was also very involved in the Reserved Officers Woman’s Association, the Woman’s Club of Riverhead and the Red Hatters. She loved putting on fashion shows for these organizations starting in the early 1950s. Annette was a real fashion diva. She also worked in purchasing at York College for many years. Family and friends meant everything to Annette and she was happiest when everyone was together. She was a true care giver, always there for her children and grandchildren. She was a loving, kind and generous grandmother. Holidays were very important to her, from trips to the city to see Santa at Macy’s (her favorite store), dressing up for Halloween and making heart shaped cakes for Valentine’s Day. In 1951, she and her husband Charles bought a home in East Quogue where she and the children spent their summers at the beach, swimming and enjoying the company of her many friends. Annette and Charles traveled the world together. Their adventures took them to places like Europe, the Middle East, Asia and most of the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. Annette and Charles had a true love story…Reposing at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, Long Island. Visitation Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 2-4:30 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass Friday, May 22, 2015, 10 am Infant Jesus Chapel at St. Charles Hospital, Port Jefferson, Long Island. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
