Eugene M. Moffatt

Born on November 20, 1945, in Manhattan, New York, Gene lived a life defined by devotion to his family, enduring love for his wife, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.

For over 55 years, Gene was the beloved husband of Kathleen, his partner in every adventure and the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories — from cruising the sparkling waters of the Caribbean to renting a villa in Italy, where they gathered with family and explored historic sites and scenic countryside. These travels were among his most treasured experiences, especially because they were shared with those he loved most.

Gene was a loving and proud father to Mary LaPorte (Raymond) and Eugene Moffatt (Sarah). He was a cherished grandfather to Raymond LaPorte and Caleb and Camden Moffatt, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Nothing meant more to Eugene than being surrounded by his family. He adored every moment spent with them, whether at home, on vacation, or celebrating milestones together.

Earlier in life, Gene enjoyed skiing and embraced the camaraderie it brought. Closer to home, he was a dedicated member of the Moose Lodge in Port Jefferson, where he served as a bartender and formed many lasting friendships. He valued community, friendship, and the simple pleasure of good conversation.

Gene will be remembered for his steady presence, his love of family, and the warmth he extended to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished so deeply.

A visitation for Gene will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at St. Gerard Majella RC Church, 300 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson Station, NY.

A committal service and interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 Route 112, Coram, NY 11727.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
