

Frances was born to Elsie (Palumbo) and Lafred Perry in Jamaica, New York, the oldest of three children in a close-knit family. Frances married her college sweetheart and love of her life, Robert John Luther. They met in 1960 and married on their Ithaca College graduation date of June 2nd, 1962. They were together for 65.5 years and married for 63.5 years.
Frances remains ever present in her husband (Bob), daughter (Michele Anne Kucic), grandchildren (Eric Parker, Amanda Ferrante, Grace Ferrante, Jamie Ferrante, Erica Murphy, Andrew Denton, and Joseph Kucic Jr.), great-grandchild (William Peter Murphy), and step-grandchildren (Anny Kucic and Jillian English) and step-great-grandchildren (Decker Kucic and Delaney English). In addition, her future great-grandson from Eric and Samantha Parker who is expected in May 2026.
Frances has a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master's in Music from Ithaca College, and is the only person to receive a Master's degree in four instruments (Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, and Oboe). In addition, Frances has a Master's in Arts in Counselling from C.W. Post Long Island University. Frances and Robert were clarinet members of the Atlantic Winds Band in Long Island.
Frances had a long and successful 33- year career in public school music education in the Huntington and Northport school districts. Frances also taught private music lessons (clarinet and flute) for over 63 years in Stony Brook, Long Island. She absolutely loved teaching and her students. Michele followed in her parents' footsteps, with a rich background in music education, teaching orchestra and strings in Sayville, Syosset, Mamaroneck, and Spotsylvania Public Schools.
In Frances' spare time, she loved photography and won several awards with the Photographic Federation of Long Island. Many of her photos are on display in her home today. Additionally, Frances was an avid competitive bridge player and won several awards in the Long Island Bridge League.
Frances was a fiercely dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was our biggest cheerleader and constant supporter. She always believed in the best of all people. Our family would not be where it is today without Frances in our lives. To family and friends, she was always Fran.
Frances is reunited with her beloved daughter (Debbie Ferrante) in heaven, watching over their growing families.
Visitation services will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 4839 Nesconset Hwy, Port Jefferson Station, New York, 11776. The visitations are scheduled for December 20, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, as well as on December 21, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St James R.C. Church, 429 NY-25A, East Setauket, New York, 11733, on December 22, 2025, at 9:30 am.
The Committal Service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 Route 112, Coram, New York, 11727, on December 22, 2025, at 11:30 am.
