It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Joseph Thomas DeAngelis announce his passing to heaven on April 27, 2020, two months after his ninety second birthday. Joseph passed away peacefully in his home in Port Jefferson Station after a downward spiral in his health after having a car accident back in December. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, his children, Francis (Margaret) DeAngelis, Joyce Ann (Mauro) Piccininni, Thomas (Frances) DeAngelis, and Maria (Frank) Campanella, grandchildren, James, Timothy, Ann, Thomas (Sara) Seweid-DeAngelis, Gabriella, Nicolas, Claudia, Justin, Dante, and his loving twin sister, Mary Papp. Father in law to Jean DeAngelis, Brother in law to Charles and Marilyn Camp, and Uncle to many. Joseph served in World War II and continued on to be a butcher loved by many. He opened his own shop, Dome Meats in Brentwood New York and moved on to later help his son, Thomas with his market in Locust Valley as a part time butcher well into his 80s. Joseph was the source of life and all its creative energy for his family. He was funny, sensitive, hard working, thoughtful and wise, and although he is not present to say so, he wants his family to thrive, grow and be better and kinder with each passing moment. In this he led by his own example. A life is not measured in moments of death. Death will humble all people, and therefore a life cannot be weighted by the way we face it, but Joseph’s life was filled with the excitement of being alive and of having great intentions to enjoy it and live it with his family every moment. He lived to eat good food with family, drink wine in celebration of living, and taste the sweetness of lingering memories. Because of his deep enjoyment of it all, it is with the greatest sadness to announce the passing of this great man for all whom enjoyed his company!
