Joseph M. Matassa

Joseph M. Matassa (Joe), age 84, of South Setauket, New York passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024. He grew up in NYC with his brothers Thomas and Francis (deceased). He now joins his late wife, Harriet, who was his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 43 years of marriage. His family was paramount to him. He was the Loving father of Jean (Anthony), Linda (Brian), Joseph (Megan), and Susan (Matthew). Beloved Papa of Marie (Rick), Michael (Megan), Nicole, Morgan, Thomas, Jessica, Madison, Joseph, and Nicholas. Joseph had the privilege of meeting two of his great grandchildren, Ricky and Layla. He is also predeceased by Eileen Giannotta, who was his dear companion for many years after his wife passed. Joe was a caring and generous man. He was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed watching all types of sports. He always enjoyed when he had the opportunity to watch his children and grandchildren perform on stage, on the athletic field or in any of their other activities . Joe loved to share the story of how he bowled a 300 game and accomplished the elusive hole in one in golf. He will be dearly missed.
