Judith Ellen Loew of Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 15, 1935, in Chicago, IL, Judith was a woman of warmth, kindness, and creativity whose bright smile left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was the beloved wife of the late Walter and the loving mother of Nicholas Makris (Dalia) and Athena Voorhees (Ray). Judith was a proud and devoted grandmother, GreeGree, and Granny to Christina Hogan (James), Bethany Miller (Ryan), Rebecca Voorhees, Ryan Kehoe (Jessica), Connor Kehoe, Lior Makris, and Eli-Ron Makris. Her love extended into the next generation as the cherished great-grandmother of James, Ashlynn, Brennan, Winter, Landon, Hudson, Amelia, and Everly. She was also the adored sister of Morris Hirsch (Charity), and leaves behind her beloved cat, Zoey, who brought her much comfort and companionship.
Judith had a joyful spirit and a passion for life’s simple pleasures. She loved walking, listening to folk music and Frank Sinatra, and watching classic old movies. A skilled and dedicated crafter, Judith was rarely seen without a knitting needle or crochet hook in hand. Her handmade baby blankets became treasured keepsakes for every new member of the family. An avid stamp collector, she found joy in small details and heartfelt moments.
More than anything, Judith treasured time with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great joy in creating memories with them that will be forever cherished.
