Dear Peter,

I am touched by your kind words, and at the same time it makes me feel
bad that I have not written you about your loss.
Too many things to take care of , but there is no excuse, and I truly apologize.

I remember Linda sending us Christmas cards that I have saved over the years
as they were carefully picked, most beautiful of all. There are no words to express
my sympathy, because I had only brief encounters with your beloved, and cannot
describe your togetherness, but I can see how JP reacted and that says a lot.

Be strong for your sons as they only have you now.
Your family has been an example of dedication to one another.

Our first meeting....I was barking and you were afraid...In a matter of hours you were petting me and I didn't leave your side.  I knew all I had to do was keep wagging my tail because I sensed right away this one has so much love and boy was I right!  Each visit I got more and more attention and before you even realized I was right beside you snuggled up on the couch in front of Tom's roaring fire.  All of our visits were special but I have to admit Thanksgiving was really fun especially when we gave you the job of carving the turkey for leftovers!  Boy those scraps were yummy!  Let's not forgot Christmas you never forgot me, always a new toy and plenty of treats especially that big box of milk bones.....but the thing I will miss the most is your love and you had so much of it.  Did you ever think you would ever treat a big hairy Golden Retriever like a grandchild!! Well grandma if you didn't  you do now.  I will miss you so much. I love you...woof woof woof Molly xo

I can not really put into words how I feel and how my heart aches.  Some moments I shed tears and others I smile.  I feel fortunate to have had Linda in my life not only as Tom's mom but mine as well.  Who will I call when Tom is not behaving?  I will miss her comforting words Thomas Stop It!!!She never treated me like Tom's girlfriend, or a daughter-n-law she treated me like a daughter and I will be forever grateful for that.  I am fortunate to have had her love for the short time that I did than never at all.  I love you Linda and always will.  I feel like I lost another mom too soon.  Forever in my heart....Carol and of course Molly too!!We Love you.

It so hard to express words when one passes away because of pain and sorrow, but what's not hard to express is the love and smile Linda always offered. When I think of Linda's passing I am at first saddened and then I smile and send her a blast of love for being such a loyal friend and blessing me with her presence in my life.She helped my youngest son achieve his Eagle Scout and every time I look at the painting of the Captains Lady hanging in the shop I am reminded that she will always be with me.People like Linda will never be far away because she is always in our heart.Peter-- you,Thomas, Paul and Mary will be forever in my thoughts and prayers.The goodness and love of Linda will live on through you all and through all of us who knew and loved her.

Holly and I are truly saddened at Linda's passing.  As Holly says, our hearts are broken.  The sadness is tempered with the realization that Linda is no longer in pain, although our sadness continues.  We also look forward to the day when we will be united with her again in heaven. It is a sobering event when someone you consider your contemporary isn't there any more.  It's hard to accept that what was an ongoing relationship now has a beginning, middle, and end.

This relationship started, appropriately, at a lunch table in the Exxon cafeteria in New York.  Linda was part of a lunch group that invited me to join them when I started working there.  Linda was expecting Thomas then. 

I continued to hear of Linda's life through Mary, and at some point the Bolioli family became a second family, a larger one that filled in for my small and geographically-dispersed one.  And so I began spending the holidays at the Bolioli household.  These events always involved one of Linda's wonderful meals and sitting at a table in the kitchen, talking about politics, travels, the events of our lives, her children, and the cats.  Linda had a way of telling a story, and it brought that out in others.  One Thanksgiving started in the late afternoon and paused when we were too tired to continue.  We resumed with dessert at breakfast.  Though Mary and I had agreed to leave early in the morning to avoid the traffic, it was early afternoon when we packed up our turkey leftovers and left.  When the holiday celebration moved to Thomas and Carol's, it just started a couple days before with a Christmas in Coram.

This summer I had a yen for a Bolioli visit - no holiday event, just a meal around the table with the usual conviviality.  I thought it would be something simple; after all, I was inviting myself over for Saturday night dinner.  Of course, it was a feast, as every meal I shared with the your family was.  I'm glad I had this chance to visit with Linda as this would be the last time I saw her.  It was a fitting way to remember her:  presiding over Peter at the grill, the wonderful side dishes she had prepared, and sharing in lively conversation at the table.

In the end Linda lives as a memory, but a memory that will always bring a smile and lift me a little.  And so it is an end that inspires with the knowledge that simply by being who you are - engaged in the events of life, witty, generous, and passionate about everything you touch - you can enrich the lives of others beyond your time as a mortal.

My deepest sympathy goes to Mary, Peter, Paul, and Thomas and Carol.
